After almost a year of waiting, Windows XP is finally in OLPC (One Laptop Per Child). This child friendly device was originally developed with Linux as its OS. Although it doesn’t really matter to the kids who will be receiving them, users here have been clamoring for an XP version of the device that should be integrated to the market. It’s also a nice marketing strategy for Microsoft as they show their compassionate side to the kids. Microsoft, through Bill Gates already has a Classmate PC with an XP on it so XP in OLPC XO is a great addition to the device.
The reason why XP has been delayed for almost a year is that Microsoft has to build new sets of drivers that could fit to the very small storage capacity of the XO. With this version of XO, the mesh networking may not be available. Although XP has been squeezed to the bare essentials, it still wouldn’t fit to the 1GB storage capacity. Instead, expect that XO will be released with a preloaded 2GB SD card. The operating system along with the preloaded applications will take up 1.5GB. Since users will have a total of 3GB of storage capacity, they will still have 1.5GB for their personal documents. Besides, you still have USB ports so that you can have more storage capacity.

The Intel Classmate 2, one of many in the lines of the smaller sized laptops, has some pretty solid specs. It will come with a 9-inch LCD display, six-cell battery, 512MB RAM, 30GB HDD, integrated webcam, 802.11b/g WiFi support, Windows XP or Linux OS and the Intel Celeron M processor. However, despite upgrading to the larger screen, Intel kept the resolution the same size as its’ predecessor, keeping it as a measely 800 by 480 pixels. Future versions will move to Intel’s Atom platform, however there is no official date yet set for that upgrade. Hot off the presses, the Classmate 2 went live for sale but a few days ago on April 2nd. Geared towards the younger generation, primarily those between 6 and 12 years of age, the laptop comes standard with Windows XP and MS Office, giving them experience with the platform and software suite they’ll likely encounter in the near future of their computing us.

Home theatre projectors are becoming more and more popular that any of us would have imagined. In fact many people are opting for a projector and rejecting the usual trendy style of the LCD and plasma screens. The fact that you can get a much better home theatre experience at a lower price is what attracts consumers the most.
NEC knows this and that is why they have released their new line of NP1150, NP2150, and NP3150 projectors this week. While they were created mainly for professional businesses and schools I think we can all agree that buying one for the home wouldn’t necessarily be a bad idea.
These projectors are special because they are the very first commercial projectors that allow users to take advantage of the ‘Connect to a Network Projector’ wizard that can be found on any Windows Vista server.

Computers have evolved into something that every consumer wants to get their hands on. The Eee PC (easy to learn, easy to play, and easy to work) is a computer that is smaller than a laptop but bigger than a pocket PC. It weighs 0.9 kilograms and has a 7” screen that runs at 800×480 resolutions. The crystal clear screen makes it easy for you to see everything that you are doing so no worries there.
Naturally you can expect that the keyboard is small in size making it difficult for people with larger fingers to type. Overall though most people found it was the same as typing on a laptop.
There are three versions that you can buy. The Eee PC 4G model – which is fully featured, and the ‘lighter’, less-expensive, forthcoming 4G Surf, and 2G Surf models. It has everything that you would want and need including a graphical variety of Linux, Windows OS, Open-Office applications, web browser, Skype, and around 5 Linux games.

Making their grand appearance at CES 2007 this year, the I MU Vibro speaker definitely makes a unique class of their own. No matter what your taste and choice is, this pair will definitely suit you because of their wonder design. As the product page says, the I-MU Vibro is “guaranteed to cause consternation amongst office hi-fi bores, this pioneering gizmo is set to become the speaker of choice for fans of forehead-slappingly clever whatsits the world over. It’ll get walls jumping, desks pumping and windows thumping. Cumbersome cabinets? Who needs ’em!â€. Interesting, eh!
“But how does the I-MU Vibro actually work, we hear you ask? Well, boffins over at the Firebox Sonic Research Institute spent seconds examining this super-energy crystal speaker but were too busy catching falling jaws to work it out. And that’s because this sound innovation pumps out amazingly impressive sonics that need to be heard to be disbelieved. Here comes the science bit…The main component is a tiny piece of a material called Terfenol-D, which was originally used by the US Navy for sonar work. The Terfenol is placed within an aluminum case and a coil wrapped round it. When electricity is passed through the coil the Terfenol expands slightly creating a massive force of 400 pounds – when it’s attached to a flat surface it transmits electronic signals into mechanical energy causing the flat surface to vibrate and broadcasts the sound.
