Californian Architect Gregg Fleishman has developed a miracle house called DH1 Disaster House. Yes, it is a miracle in itself because; it can be put in an afternoon and without much effort. Do you have an idea how a 3D puzzle is put together? This house is built similarly with the help of tabs. The construction could be never simpler!
Well, a need leads to a discovery! So, this housing technology was initially designed for the poor hurricane sufferers. They had lost their homes and were in dire need of some accommodation. DH1 firstly helped these victims and gave them shelter. They were happy to have a house so simple and easy to build.
This housing occupies 14 feet square shed built 30 inches above ground. The pack of housing material contains a stack of European Birch Plywood. One needs to just put these pieces together passing through the slots. Hey guys, be sure to have a place for yourself within an hour. Yeah, even a porch is included.
If you desire for a three-room model, the housing pack is arranged into 276 panels that are cut beforehand. These are of 28 different types. This leads to a 370 square feet space in the three rooms, two 9 inches cubes and a 15 inches wide beveled module.
Though the house is very versatile and practical to use, it has a few shortcomings. It does not protect you from sudden rains and there is no proper insulation. I mean to say, these facilities are not included in the sticker price of $22,000. As hurricanes are predominantly seen in wet areas, this drawback has to be dealt with. One may use plastic tarpaulin or oil cover to give it sheathing. Also, a few canopies can be used to overcome rains. These accessories are not that difficult to have access with.
Though right now, these DH1 Disaster Houses are used just for the victims, one cannot deny its place in your home improvements. If the alternative companies start producing it for a lower price, I won’t hesitate to form an office in my backyard with this DH1 housing!

thats a pretty handy disaster house — too bad they can’t get the price down any further. 22 grand seems a bit oppressive to someone that just had their home leveled by a natural disaster. On the other hand, a house that you can live reasonably well protected from the elements in that you can put up so quickly is a pretty awesome bit of construction.
Of course… there is always a tent. >_~
Matt- On top of the sold price 22 grand the waterproofing is sold separately.
